Columns

Columns

Columns are vertical elements designed to receive vertical loads and transmit them to the foundations. They are most commonly square or rectangular, but can also have other polygonal shapes or be circular, depending on the mould in which they are made. They receive the beams that support the slabs and transmit through them the loads that affect the entire area of influence of the column.

The area of their section is mainly determined by the buckling load and bending moment that the column has to bear.

The concrete used in their manufacture is HA-50 and the steel is type B500 S. It is possible to manufacture them with other types of concrete and steel if the project so requires.
